Speedy, aggressive cyclists zipping along city streets on fixed gear bicycles without brakes causing consternation among pedestrians and other roadway traffic is a scene that is sooo today. Well, yes. But it is also soooo 1895. A very interesting piece appeared in yesterday's New York Times about the beginnings of the long standing conflicts that exist between urban bicyclists and virtually everyone else trying to make their way around the big city.
